PuppyFocus is a healing iOS focus timer app. Through Pomodoro sessions, white noise soundscapes, and the emotional companionship of an exclusive puppy, we help you focus better in a warm and relaxing atmosphere.
1. Information We Collect
PuppyFocus is built on the principle of "Data Minimalism."
App Data: Your focus records, custom labels, puppy name, purchased items, virtual-currency activity, and app preferences are stored locally on your device. If you choose to enable iCloud Sync, the supported data described below is also stored in your private iCloud account and synchronized across your devices.
Information You Voluntarily Send: If you contact us by email or through the website contact form, we receive your name, email address, message content, and any attachments or device details you choose to provide, solely to respond to your support request.
App Analytics: PuppyFocus uses Firebase Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the app is used and where the experience can be improved. The analytics data we currently collect includes:
App Interactions and Feature Usage: Events such as starting, completing, or abandoning a focus session; focus mode; planned or elapsed duration; broad task category (for example, study or work); Strict Mode status; selected white-noise type; opening the in-app shop; and spending virtual currency.
Purchase Flow Events: Viewing the paywall, starting a purchase, and completing a purchase, together with the selected product identifier and the in-app entry point. We do not receive or send your payment card, banking details, or Apple Account password.
Device and App Information: Firebase Analytics may automatically process an app-instance identifier and technical information such as device type, operating-system version, app version, language, and general region, along with automatically collected app events such as first open and session activity.
We do not send your custom focus-label text, puppy name, email address, support-message content, or Screen Time app selections to Firebase Analytics. We do not use this analytics data for third-party advertising or sell it.
Website Download Attribution: When you select an App Store download button or scan a PuppyFocus website QR code, our website records the source label assigned to that button or QR code, the PuppyFocus landing page, the referring website's hostname when available, a broad device class, and the time of the request. Where our security configuration is enabled, we may also create a short-lived, one-way hash derived from the network address to reduce duplicate or abusive traffic; we do not store the raw network address in the download-attribution record. The redirect then sends Apple a provider token and campaign token so App Store Connect can report aggregated product-page views, downloads, sales, and subscriptions for that source.
Optional iCloud Sync: If you enable iCloud Sync in PuppyFocus, Apple iCloud Key-Value Storage and CloudKit synchronize supported app data between devices signed in to your Apple Account. The current sync scope includes:
Focus History: Session dates, durations, completion status, earned rewards, and focus-label names, identifiers, and colors.
Preferences: Puppy name, language, timer and break settings, custom focus labels, selected white noise, and related focus-mode settings. Screen Time app selections are not included.
Virtual Currency and Shop State: Kibble and bone transactions, related focus or shop references, owned room items, and equipped item selections.
Sync Metadata: Record identifiers, timestamps, schema versions, and an app-generated device identifier used to merge changes and prevent duplicate records. This is not your Apple Account password or advertising identifier.
iCloud Sync is off until you enable it. PuppyFocus stores synced records in the app's private CloudKit database; they are not publicly shared and are not sent to Firebase Analytics merely because iCloud Sync is enabled.
System Permissions: To provide core functionalities, we request the following:
Screen Time (FamilyControls): Used solely for "Strict Mode" and "Whitelist Mode" to block distracting apps. We cannot access your browsing history or specific app usage details.
Notifications: Used to alert you when a session or break ends. These notifications are shown locally by iOS on your device.
No Account-Based PII Collection: We do not require account registration, and we do not proactively collect your name, phone number, or biometric data during app use. We only receive your name, email address, and message content if you voluntarily contact us by email or submit the website contact form.
2. Data Storage and Security
On-Device Storage: App data is stored on your iOS device via UserDefaults and JSON files.
Inter-process Sync: Minor settings such as puppy name and limited focus state are stored in a shared App Group for this app's Widgets, Live Activities, and Shield Extension.
iCloud Storage: When iCloud Sync is enabled, the supported data listed above is processed by Apple and stored using iCloud Key-Value Storage and the app's private CloudKit database. We do not operate a separate centralized backend for this synced app content.
Core App Content: We do not upload the contents of your focus records, custom labels, puppy name, items, or virtual-currency history to our own centralized backend. When iCloud Sync is enabled, supported content is sent to Apple iCloud; the limited analytics events described above are sent separately to Firebase Analytics.
Retention: On-device data remains until you reset or clear it in the app, or delete the app. Synced data may remain in iCloud after the local app is deleted and is retained according to your iCloud settings and Apple's applicable terms. You can turn off PuppyFocus iCloud access or manage its stored data through your Apple Account's iCloud settings. Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics property settings and Google's applicable retention policies; aggregated or de-identified reporting may remain after the underlying user-level data expires or is deleted. If you contact us by email or through the website contact form, related messages may be retained until the issue is resolved or for a reasonable period needed to continue support communication.
Website Attribution Records: App Store button and QR-code source records are kept only for analytics, fraud prevention, and campaign comparison for a reasonable operational period. They are not used to build advertising profiles or sold to third parties.
3. Third-Party Services and Payments
Apple StoreKit 2: In-app purchases, subscriptions, trial eligibility, and restore purchases are handled directly by Apple. We only receive limited purchase-status information and never see your payment method details or banking information.
Apple Campaign Links: App Store download links may include Apple's provider and campaign tokens. Apple processes those tokens to provide aggregated acquisition and monetization reporting in App Store Connect under the Apple Privacy Policy.
Apple Subscription Management: Monthly and annual subscriptions, including free trial management, cancellation, switching plans, and renewal, are managed through your Apple Account.
Apple iCloud and CloudKit: If you enable iCloud Sync, Apple processes and stores the supported app data described above so it can stay up to date across your devices. This processing is governed by your agreement with Apple and the Apple Privacy Policy. You can learn how to control third-party app access in Apple's iCloud settings guide.
Google Firebase Analytics: Google LLC processes the limited app-usage, purchase-flow, device, and app-instance information described above to provide analytics reports. For more information, see Firebase Privacy and Security and the Google Privacy Policy.
Contact Form and Email Communication: If you submit our website contact form or email us, standard email and delivery service providers process and store the message only for customer support communication.
No Advertising SDKs: PuppyFocus does not currently integrate a third-party advertising SDK, and Firebase Analytics is used for product analytics rather than third-party advertising.
4. Your Rights
You can control local data, optional iCloud Sync, permissions, subscriptions, and support communications:
Local Data Deletion: Deleting the app removes locally stored PuppyFocus data from that device. Offloading the app may keep its documents and data.
Manage iCloud Sync: You can turn iCloud Sync off inside PuppyFocus. You can also control whether PuppyFocus uses iCloud in iOS Settings under your Apple Account and iCloud. Turning sync off stops future synchronization but may not automatically delete data already stored in iCloud; you can review and manage app data in your iCloud storage settings or contact us for help.
Revoke Permissions: You can disable Screen Time or Notification permissions at any time via iOS System Settings.
Manage Subscriptions: If you subscribe to a monthly or annual plan, you can cancel, switch, or manage it in Apple Subscriptions.
Analytics Requests: You may contact us to ask a question about analytics data or request deletion of analytics data reasonably associated with your app instance. Because PuppyFocus does not require an account and does not send your name or email address with analytics events, we may need limited device or app-instance information to identify a record, and in some cases may not be able to link aggregated data back to you.
Request Deletion of Support Messages: If you previously contacted us by email or through the website contact form and want those support messages deleted, you can request that using the address below.
